A – Is the climate agreement – the turning point we needed, or too little and too late?
B – Should the west ease Russian sanctions in return for cooperation in Syria and the Ukraine?
C – Should Canada welcome 25,000 Syrian refugees? Should the US follow the Canadian lead?
D – Finland, now in a difficult recession, is preparing to give everyone $870 euros a month. Good idea?
E – I agreed with Obama’s speech on ISSIS, but even Hilary Clinton is asking for more military action. Is this necessary now?
F – “The social responsibility of business,” Milton Friedman famously said …, “is to increase its profits.” But he was careful to clarify that his dictum for business held true “so long as it stays within the rules of the game.” Our government’s reliance on industry experts in thin political markets and the instances of their self-serving behavior lead us to ask, “ What is the social responsibility of business when it comes to setting the rules of the game?” Can it ever be legitimate to manipulate the definition of profit to increase profits?
G – Are you happy that the FDA has just approved genetically engineered salmon with no labelling requirement?
