The LCS Discussion Group meets every Wednesday to discuss timely topics on a wide variety of subjects.
This is one of the many activities at the Lake Chapala Society — a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the mutual exchange of knowledge, expertise, culture, heritage, language and talents, thereby contributing to the social enrichment of its members and the lakeside’s Mexican community. Much more information can be found at http://www.lakechapalasociety.com
The discussions have a regular format which is designed to give everyone a chance to participate. We first vote on the topics to discuss from a list prepared by the coordinator (with members’ input) and posted on the discussion group’s web site. The topics are discussed in order of most votes. One member introduces a topic, and everyone takes turns starting with the member to the introducer’s left. At the height of the season, contributions are limited to two minutes. Because our time is limited, each participant is asked to wait for their turn. Once everyone has had their turn, the group can opt for another round, individual points, or we go straight to the next question.
